Recently an Amazon reviewer said that my 112-page book The Fred Factor was about being thoughtful and nice and ended with a dismissive “so I just saved you the time and money of reading it.”
Gee, thanks.
In the same spirit of public service inspired by my Amazon reviewer, I thought I’d take on a few big books in an effort to “save you the time and money” of actually reading them:
Gone with the Wind: Love in the Civil War.
Atlas Shrugged: Capitalism is better.
War and Peace: uh, war and peace.
I do think, however, you’ll pick up on a few more nuances if you actually read the books.
Have you ever written a review of a book you loved? Please feel free to share your thoughts with me on Facebook and Twitter as well as in the comment box below
A lot of books that deal with people skills can be summed up as “Don’t be a jerk!”
Ah, but it’s in the fine details that we learn what this means. For example, the gentleman who wrote the review is (in his mind) only showing us his cleverness.
He read the book, but he didn’t get it!! He was neither thoughtful nor nice. Proving very clearly that you can’t “just tell people” to be nice (unless they are five years old). It takes some ‘splainin. Which is why you have to read lots of books 😉
Mark, fitting reply to a comment in poor taste. We shall leave them to suffer their ignorance. Enjoyed “The Fred Factor” very much – as I did your other books. Have ordered your latest on and cant wait for it to reach Sydney.
