Are you really so busy that…
…you have to use your cell phone in a public restroom (or a private one for that matter)?
…you have to turn left on a full red because the traffic whose light has changed to green “probably” sees you?
…you can’t pause an extra second to hold the door for the person behind you?
…you don’t notice how loudly and obnoxiously you’re talking on your cell phone?
…you can stop in an active traffic lane to figure out the directions to your destination on your phone?
…you need to footrace someone to the checkout line so you’ll be an extra space ahead?
If so, you’re too busy…or think you are.
If you claim you need to do these rude things because you’re too busy, you are rationalizing.
Do yourself (and others) a favor and re-evaluate.
Sure, there are important things–necessary things–that need your attention and can make you busy. But often we simply put the blame for poor choices and behavior on “being busy.” Accept responsibility that we are often as busy as we choose to be and can be less busy and better people when we don’t always put the blame on busy.
