Learning doesn’t happen by accident. It always begins with an intention.
What are you learning? What should you be learning? These are good questions all the time and great questions to ask at the beginning of a new year.
There is so much we could learn that would benefit us. How do we identify the most important things to learn at work?
Here are four questions to help you focus on your learning priorities:
Would learning this make me…
…more marketable to current and future employers?
…a better person?
…a more productive employee?
…a larger contributor?
Contemplate those questions and let the answers guide you in designing your learning agenda.
Thanks Mark for your lovely post. In fact i was re-looking at my reading plan and learning goals. I was looking to do something different – your post and the 5 questions have provided me a trigger. Hope to stretch think and take it ahead.
Great Simple Effective Questions… Thanks for sharing and Happy Holidays
I so agree. Thanks for your post. We should be learning everyday, but do we recognize the need and recognize or acknowledge we are learning? Be sure and take note of the items you learn in a single day. Sometimes the self awareness associated with the learning is equally important. I encounter so many people in interview settings that cannot recall learnings or applications of learnings.
