I define leadership as an invitation to greatness that we extend to others. After I spoke this weekend a woman asked me what books I would suggest for parents who want to invite their children to greatness.

Thank you for calling out resources to help improve leadership skills in children. That seems to get lost in the shuffle at times. I’ve found the message in The Dog Poop Initiative by Kirk Weisler to be a powerful teaching tool with my children.
Wow! I wish books like these were around when I was a kid, when I was raising my son, and when I taught elementary school. The closest thing to leadership preparation in the elementary school I attended as a kid was being on the “Safety Patrol.” Does anyone else remember those cool yellow sashes with the “Safety Patrol” badge on it, or am I dating myself?? 🙂
Anyway, it did make an impression on me when it was my turn to be a “Safety,” as we called it. Thank goodness for that, because it was quite a while before I was to experience that feeling of being a leader again!
I’ll check these resources out, because I can use them now for my grandson and for coaching clients or workshop participants who are raising kids.
