Enough doom and gloom already. The sky is falling and we’re the ones pulling it down. Our ever responsible media can’t seem to stick to what’s happening; journalists feel to consistently add bleak commentary. If it bleeds it leads has always been true. I’ve come to believe the media is actually opening veins with all the negativity it is spreading.
No single person can predict what is going to happen. Telling people how bad holiday sales are going to be become a self-fulfilling prophecy. Gosh, I was going to buy some stuff but maybe I shouldn’t if things are that bad!
Tell people things are rotten long enough and they’ll begin to believe the reports over their own experience.
Car makers said their “research” showed nobody would buy a car from a manufacturer in bankruptcy. Independent research showed just the opposite: 75% didn’t care if the car maker was in bankruptcy–they’d still buy from them.
Who is right? I don’t know but I do know this: both sets of “research” can’t be right (I’d put my money on the non-self-serving research).
There is allot of data, research and such floating around right now that is just plain crap. Figuring out who or what to believe is one of the hardest jobs any of us face.
We’d all be better served if the media tried a little harder to stick the facts as best they can be determined and quit focusing almost exclusively on telling us how bad off we all are.
