Susan Boyle’s “I Dreamed a Dream” was 2009’s top selling album just behind Taylor Swift’s “Fearless.”
Susan has the voice of an angel, and her talent is extraordinary. But isn’t that the case with most successful artists?
I think what put Susan over the top was her imperfection. She wasn’t drop dead gorgeous, sexy or polished. She didn’t date Hollywood actors or supermodels.
She was ordinary in appearance and demeanor. She lived a simple life.
In other words, she was just like us. Human. Imperfect.
And that’s what made her dream so perfect: that an ordinary person can do something extraordinary, be recognized for his or her talent and embraced not because of their perfection, but because of their imperfection.
In Susan Boyle’s case, imperfection is almost perfect.
