Unemployment is high. People need work. People want a good job.
Many, perhaps, but not all.
Case in point: after receiving a resume we scheduled an interview with a job candidate last week. My schedule was tight and I had to forgo another meeting, but I wanted to accommodate the applicant.
She didn’t show up. Or call. We’ve not heard from her since.
She evidently changed her mind, either about wanting the job or any job for that matter. I can understand that. I can’t understand why she wouldn’t have shared that information with us. Rude.
After tossing her resume I moved on. But it did give me pause.
Pogo famously said we have met the enemy and they are us. All of us need to guard against becoming our own worst enemy. Especially when looking for a job.
